Well it happened, I knew deep it inside that it would one day but I still had hope. Colin came to me on Sunday and told me that a few kids told him that Nellie was being picked on in school. Ouch, it was like a knife in my heart. ( I even started crying) After all Nellie is the sweetest little girl I know (I'm not biased) how could anyone pick on her? I just wrote about how thoughtful & kind the kids have been. I'm trying to remember that most of the kids are great, she's in 4th grade and this is the first issue we have had. I guess most of the kids told the boy who was making fun of her to stop and then they told on him! That gives me hope! I wanted to kick the boys ass, does that make me just as bad as him?

Nellie has cri-du-chat syndrome, it is a very rare chromosome abnormalities. One in every 50,000 are born with CDC. Her syndrome has effected every aspect of her life. She is developmentally delayed, physically she has balance issues and has scoliosis, her speech is extremely delayed and she uses sign language and a dynovox machine. Nellie has had therapy (and a lot of it) since she was 7 weeks old and it has worked wonders. She is doing fantastic and we are so proud of her.
Some people may say she looks a Little like a child with Down Syndrome. She has been a blessing to our family and we are all better people because of her.
